Are You Carrying Water or Digging A Well in Your Life?

Once there were two monks living in two neighboring mountains. As there there were no water in the two mountains, the two monks need to carry water in a brook at the bottom of the mountain. As they met each other every day in their journey to carry water, they became good friends.

They carried water for five years till one day the Monk B found that the Monk A didn't appear. He was a little curious but just thought that Monk B might be asleep. However, the second day Monk B didn’t see Monk A in his process of carrying water. What made Monk B worry much was that Monk A didn't appear at all in the whole next month. Then he decided to visit Monk A because he just worried that his friend might be ill. When he found the temple in the neighbor mountain, he just found that Monk A was playing Taichi so happily and peacefully, not a patient at all. Then he asked in surprise: “Hey! Monk B! You haven’t gone to carry water in a month, do you have water to drink?”

Then Monk A smilingly led him to the back yard of the temple, pointing to a well, he said: “in recent five years, I would just spend some of my spare time to dig this well after I carried water from the bottom of the mountain and finished all my other works. I just tried my best even I was busy sometimes. I had already finished digging a well and the water in the well just came out continuously. I don’t need to go to the mountain bottom to carry water at all! Moreover, I could spare more time to do things I want to do such as playing Taichi!”

Since then Monk A didn’t need to pick water from the bottom of the mountain at all, while Monk B had to continued his hard work.

Monk B is smart enough to spend his time effectively. In our real life, many smart people know how to spend their spare time to earn a continuous income or develop some of their other capabilities, to help themselves gain long-lasting fortune and success.

In each business era, some rich people will just be born. They’re just very smart and diligent enough to do something continuously unknown to others; they persist on something others can’t understand. That’s why they’re already successful when others understand and they’re already rich when others know.
