What is empathy?


To make it complex, empathy a way of communication is to objectively understand inner feeling of the parties in action by standing on the position and angle of the parties in action, and to send your understanding to the parties in action.


To make it simple, empathy goes as the saying : “don’t give others what you don’t want to be given.” To feel for others is to feel others’ feeling and forgive others by standing on their positions and angles. To be frank, empathy is a form of EQ.


In working life, empathy is to understand his arms, targets and make it clear his real meanings of your leader when he assigns you a task. It is to understand feeling of your lover by standing on his or her own position.


I often encounter this situation: I always raise questions such as “are you clear about it?”, or “do you have any problems” when I assign a working schedule to my team workers. After confirmation and confirmation again, what they submit at last are always far away from my real targets, making me really disappointed.


Therefore, every time I accept a task, I will often confirm with my leader by asking questions such as “what do you really want?” “what’s your target?” “what’s your motives?”. Knowing his expectations, I can effectively help him solve problems by properly standing on his angle.


To have empathy is to learn about your counterpart’s demand and psychology in cooperation, so that you can persuade your counterpart’s silently. You both are working together toward the same target. It’s often in vain to overcome your competitor with violent strength.
