One of the most amazing scenery I’ve ever seen in western countries when I was studying abroad there was so many fresh and beautiful tulips on a large piece of land. I saw a large piece land of tulips near the gate of Chatsworth House, where the worldwide famous film Pride and Prejudice were produced. By then they looked so vigorous as to the air in that house garden was all filled with aroma of the tulips and this just made all the visitors so refreshing.

Returning back, I realize I really know very few about Tulip and it’s really necessary for me to write an article about tulips.

Tulips are mainly distributed along a band corresponding to Latitude 40°north, from south-east Europe and Turkey in the west. It even spreads from eastern part of Europe to southern Siberia, Inner Mongolia and as far as the northwest of China.

In terms of color, tulips come in a wide variety of colors except pure blue. So it’s not strange at all the next time you see any other colors of tulips! Just appreciate them!

Passing into English via Dutch or German in the late 1500s, tulip actually comes from the Turkishtülbent, based on the Persian dulband: "turban".

The flower, to its ancient namers, resembled the male headwear worn throughout the Middle East, India, and parts of Africa.

The tulip was a topicfor Persian poets from the thirteenth century. In recent times, tulips have featured in the poems of Simin Behbahani. Tulips are called lale in Turkish. When written in Arabic letters, “lale” has the same letters as Allah, which is why the flower became a holy symbol. It was also associated with the House of Osman, resulting in tulips being widely used in decorative motifs on tiles, mosques, fabrics, crockery.

How much do you know about tulips?  Do you like them?
