We are really confused by a refutation : “Chances in the world are becoming less and less.” So many people were just eager for a new life.
People nowadays are just regretting that it would be better if they had bought a piece of land, or it would be better if they had sold something, or it would be better if they had been involved in the Internet field as their career, or it would be better if they had bought stocks of NVIDIA, or it would be better if they had bought Tesla last month.
If those regrets continued, people would easily concluded that there is some potential big opportunity which would be envied by others in the next decade.
Uncertainty constructed by irreversible time just makes this world so wonderful. But people will just never give up forecasting future or to fight against the feeling of terror, or to gain the advantage of “being ahead for a step”.
We just hope to take a time machine to fly back to the future from the bottom of our heart.
Breaking of my land claiming plan
In 2011, mom came to Canada and we’re planning to make a piece of land in the backyard of our house. We just want to add some pleasure for her life in foreign country.
However, when we were just planning to change for a big house and began to plant the seeds for plants, we were just noticed that this house had been sold out by our landlord and was in the deal process. If we got rid of the weeds, purchasing of the house would be affected. Then this plan had just been suspended for 2 years. What makes us so disappointed was that the house was just on sale for whole 2 years. And my mum always stared at the green grass in the backyard, being not able to do anything. It was finally sold out in summer of 2015. But what finally makes me happy was that buyer of the house was willing to rent to house to us for another 2 years, meaning that we would live till 2017. By then we would just how better our life would be if we just had reclaimed that piece of land earlier.
Then in the remaining years of living in that rented house, my mom just tried her best to plant different vegetables in the yard, which was out of our plan. She even planted a cherry tree in the house and our children enjoyed the harvest of picking cherry with my mom so happily.
Suicide reducing supposing theory
Statistics had reveal to us that some data such as fire disasters in forest, number of new-born babies, sunny days and number of crimes will fluctuate in a curve shape. Then Kettler asked in letters in 1836: “when moral order was involved in the field of statistics, it may be carried in a depressing way for those people who are perfect in their nature. Free will just exists in theories.”
For example, as per some law in statistics, there were 100 people who may die of suicide in a certain city.
“This would not make sense because every citizen will just have to freedom of not choosing suicide.”
It sounds like that some unfortunate people would have to choose suicide if they were marked as a special group by others but actually they were not.
To make a hypothesis, if we can take the time machine to be back to the past to stop those 100 people from choosing suicide, would the suicide rate of this city be less than 0?
I guess it would not. If God promised and you saved those 100 people, God would still throw the dice and the big social law would still function. Suppose population of this city is not small, it might be possible that some tens of others may choose suicide.
As for statistics fatalism and crimes, Kettler had wrote: “It was the society that had aroused this crime; those who are sinful are just tools to cause the crime. Those who sacrificed in the gallows were atonement victims of the society. Their sins were just results they found themselves in that situations.”
So if you could take time machine to save those people who had chose suicide or reduce criminal rates, what you should do it not to make confirmed fighting towards those who are sinful, but to seek for the essence of the incidents. It’s just like some big expert said : “we will just have to make some making up plans of laws or administrative practices to reduce criminal rates of our country.”
We could just suppose that several stupid things you do in your life before were just like number of crimes in a certain city.
Suppose if we could returned back and you chose some decisive life turning points such as a certain key exam, your major, your employer, with whom you were to marry. It sounds that you confirmed those criminals at certain points and this had decided your other behaviors, which had decided your fortune which couldn’t be turned.
This is just why fortune of those who got big prize unexpected are always sad.
Best way to confront with history
Even if we had time machine to be back to history. What we can do to change our fortune is to adjust our own behaviors but not to change our boyfriends or boss by returning back to key life turning points.
But be sure that what we can do now is to adjust our own behaviors. We can achieve that without a time machine because we can do it just now. As for successors, Buffett had pointed out that he cared people by “how they will use the lever.” This means that he cares about their thinking pattern and behaviors.
All good performance in the past depends on your luck. But a black swan would ruin all if your behavior is not stable enough.
What he needs is not only someone who is good at managing risks but someone who can genetically recognize and avoid various risks in a programmed way. In other words, what he really care are two phrases in a person, “innate ability” and “acquired ability” in a person.
So “character decides your fortune.” should be changed into “character decides your behaviors and behaviors decides your fortune.”
So if you can change yourself once you’ve realized your mistakes, it would be more meaningful than you to change a mistake by returning back by a time machine.
