Every time when I watch international news involving in big leaders making speeches. I find a common feature of those leaders is that they usually have big figures, strong body type.

Actually in western countries especially in America, many leaders have some talents in sports. Some of them had ever been selected as Sports Representatives Team in University. Some of them were once vocational athletes. Former Chief Financial Officer of Treasury Department of United States Henry Paolson was once a Star Player of the rugby team of the university. Steve Schwarzman, starter of Blackstone Group was once a team member of the Marathon team in his University.

Not only those athletes tend to make more achievements. Elite Universities in western countries also prefer to recruit students with athletic backgrounds. What really make people with athletic backgrounds tend to be more successful? It is their strong psychological quality.

First, athletes knows how to compete with a group of people. Sports games are endowed with a characteristics of competence. As athletes in those groups, they should learn to be good at competence and like competence.

Second, athletes should know how to carry out team cooperation. Even some solo events such as Pingpong, gym, diving and track and field events shall involve strong team cooperation, because different people such as coaches, nutritionists and ladder players are involved in the team cooperation. You can only perform your best when every step prepares you the best.

As long as there is society of our human beings, competence and cooperation are eternal topics in our culture. Sports spirit involves those two elements. Individuals need both competence and cooperation, so do different countries.

Why people with athletic background are more easily distinguished out of a group of people? They have strong confidence and charisma. A team which could win is a team which had gone through lots of troubles such as disappointments, terrors, doubts and regrets.

In case of any occasions of falling behind of competitions, those core figures have to give up any bad ideas entangling their mind. They should never have an attitude of “so bad or so terrible” in life. What they really need to do is to focus highly attention on the next round of game. This is what a successful person really need in life.

As this psychological quality and strong personal characteristics are so important, many business colleges abroad like to select students with athletic backgrounds. An investigation has examined: 20 years later upon graduation, those who had donated a lot to their parent university are not those who had performed the best in their study but those who had performed well in school teams. Graduates with athletic backgrounds always show their strong sense of collectivism, whether once in school team or 20 years later in their own career life.

Rhodes Scholarship is a very long-lasting and famous in Oxford University as it has been in existence for more than 110 years. Interests in sports is one of its selecting standards students with sports achievements tend to win this scholarship more easily. Leaders in Oxford University consider those candidates with strong sports quality tend to have stronger wisdom and psychological quality and they are worth to be cultivated to future leaders in different fields.

Children will just benefit more if they can learn some special techniques in sports to strengthen their own body. This would also help develop their own wisdom and talents to the maximum and children would benefit the most in their future life.
