Loving yourself means being the kind of person you are okay with. You are happy in your own company, and you don't leech off others to try and find your balance in life. If you cannot stand being alone, then you need to find that balance, and if this means practicing meditation or going into that joyful place occasionally that you can conjure up in your mind, you will be a better person for doing that.


Meditation

Try to think of an experience in life that made you really happy and fulfilled. It could be a place or an experience from childhood, but it must be a warm and happy memory. Close your eyes, and concentrate on it. Feel it creep over you. Feel the warmth of it and enjoy it. Let this be your private space where you go when you feel negative feelings toward other people. Instead of reacting with jealousy, simply distance yourself from the situation, and sit down and close your eyes, visiting that place of comfort for a little while.


This form of meditation can help you because it lessens the chances of you turning a bad situation into a worse one by demonstrating jealousy. You can do this anywhere at any time, and even if you need to escape to the ladies’ room to do it, that's as good a place as any. Give yourself calm, and that calm will help you to walk back into the situation with a calmer mind that is able to see the situation logically, rather than letting your emotional mind take over.


Relaxation exercises

It's a good idea to also get accustomed to using relaxation exercises to help regenerate the way that you think. People who are uptight and jealous tend to be people who don’t relax much. Instead of relaxing, they let thought upon thought pile up in their minds so that situations become even more difficult than they need to be. Jealousy that is allowed to fester and then manifest itself is one of the most destructive feelings in the world, and if you can step away from the potential of doing that, you may find that you love yourself more and feel more loved by others.
