Things to Avoid to Get Sweet Sleep

There are several things to avoid and these include: avoid eating too late; avoid too much activity close to bedtime; avoid thinking out problems at bedtime. If you had any bad habits as stated before sleep, try to get rid of them to gain sweet sleep.


Avoid eating too late - if you eat too late, you are expecting your digestive system to break down that food while you are in a lying down position and it’s not going to happen. You will get heartburn and indigestion and will not get quality sleep. In fact, you are more likely to spend time tossing and turning than if you had not eaten near bedtime. You are best to have a relaxing drink that helps you to sleep than to drink stimulants such as tea, coffee or alcohol before going to bed. A malted drink is a good idea because this relaxes you and makes your body much more likely to respond in the way you need it to.


Avoid too much activity close to bedtime- You may wonder what sort of activity would stop you from going to sleep, but you would be surprised the kinds of things that can stop you from sleeping:

*Browsing websites that stress you.

*Watching violent television programs.

*Listening to high energy music.

*Talking on the telephone to people who stress you.

*Playing games on the computer that require fast action.

Any one of these activities can make you hyper. If you are hyper, you are not going to be in the right mood for sleep. Thus, you need to be able to claim down before you go to bed. Give yourself an hour of quiet activity before bedtime and you are more likely to sleep.


Avoid thinking out problems at bedtime- This one is easier said than done. The problem is that when you take problems to bed with you, your mind is too active to sleep. If you must work out problems the best time to do that is early evening before you settle down for the evening. Then, put the problems away for another day. What you are doing by writing lists of problems that need to be resolved is feeding this information to your subconscious and it also helps you to make sense of it all in list format. Then relax. Let your subconscious mind work on the problems and stop taxing your brain, especially at bedtime.
