When it comes to self-love or self-esteem, core concept of integrity shall be involved as it is about fullness and completeness of self. If people are living under integrity, it often means people are generally following ways as below:
1) being honest;
2) Living a balanced and compartmentalized life;
3) Often try to be who you are.
A definition define integrity as “a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is often regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions.” According to this definition, the word ‘consistency’ is much related to self-love as people who love themselve always behave in consitent of their own actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes.
Maintaining integrity is not easy because sometimes you may sacrifice something for it. Do you choose integrity even if it means living a difficult life? To make it more clearly, when you are going to seek for a job in a strange city where you have just several friends and relatives, will you choose to trouble your friends and relatives a lot instead of depending on yourself? I remember the hard time for me when I graduated from my university life. I went to a first-class city to seek for a job by myself. By then I was timid and even coward sometimes. I dare not to communicate with others (even my relatives) too much about my pressure and my problems. My uncle did help me a lot in my life. At the first half a year, I lived in my uncle’s home and he always cooked dinner for me. I still insist on paying him rent fees for half a year. When I have reserve enough money for life expenses of more than a year, I decided to rent a house for myself and started to learn to be totally independent on myself. Every time when I recalled this period of time, I found life is really tough but I finnaly went through and I didn’t regret for my own choices.
Moreover, I still keep a good relationship with my uncle and he generally respects my choices even though there might be quarrels sometimes. From my uncle and my aunt, I’ve learned how to adapt to life in big cities more quickly while my aunt has increasingly like my self-struggling spirit as she would like to share more with me about life and education when I was studying in university in my graduate period.
I had learned to struggle by myself and be independent enough by paying much effort and time to my own life. It’s even a long process and I had even nearly got legs hurt for not being careful with myself enough. But finally recovered and I had finally explored and groped the way of my life which is suitable for me.
Now I’m going to settle down in another big city far from my uncle, we still keep a good connection with each other and he has his own kid to take care now. I am still working hard everyday to fight for a life I want and he is striving hard to support his family together with my aunt. Maintaining integrity is not easy as the way you’re seeking for it is full of toils and moils, but they are worthwhile because once you gain integrity, you’ll find your life more peaceful and enriched.
