You need to be very clear about your own emotions, especialy some of your bad emotions such as jealousy, which will affect your relationship to a certain degree.

Jealousy in relationships and marriage is very real. It also can destroy something sometimes. Fortunately, we can all do something about it and become a better partner at the end of the day. Is your jealousy called for? Are there good reasons why you should be jealous and insecure? Nothing excuses jealousy, but if you can find the reason for it, you may be able to stop yourself from feeling jealous in the future and save your relationship.

If it happens that jealousy is a new feeling in your current relationship, something must be going on. This is especially true whenever you do not understand where that jealous feeling comes from, leaving you confused and angry. You need to examine why the feeling occured and what triggered it. One of the most logical reasons behind it is that you are not feeling good enough about who you are. This feeling of jealousy is most probably a projection — you are jealous of a certain characteristic or trait that has yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, you could have been drawn to your partner’s confidence. There are many problems associated with the onset of jealousy, and one of the largest problems is that if you demonstrate jealousy, you may just trigger an action that gives you real call to be jealous. You may alienate your partner to such an extent that he or she tries to find help in the arms of another person, simply because they don’t understand your negativity and cannot talk to you about it. The fact is that jealousy doesn’t just happen. It happens because of an underlying problem, and you need to find out what that problem is. This is vital to actualy getting beyond it. Certain triggers will also prompt it; and you need to know what these are. It would be a good idea to write down a list of the reasons why you believe that you are jealous, along with your line of thinking and past experiences. This may help you to make sense of it all, and it would be better that you try to work this out yourself at this stage of the game rather than reveal all of your feelings, which may well be unjustified as a result of how you are feeling because of a temporary situation.

You need to think carefully before you act. If you can readily identify specific behaviors of your partner that instigated your insecurity, you should talk your concerns over with your partner first. Understand that how you express such concerns could help improve the relationship afterwards or harm it.
