A healthy marriage has to include a healthy sex life; for most part. The relationship between frequency of sex and sex quality and marriage has become a controversial issue. Many marriages often fall into the deep abyss of complacence. Many married couples often become so comfortable with each other that sex no longer influences their daily lives. The few, try to keep their sexual life alive well even into old age; some in their sixties. Sex is obviously an experience that brings pleasure to many people's lives. The lack of sex in marriage, like when one partner is totally dissatisfied with how sex is, is a sign of an underlying problem; more so if the couple is under four years.

In contrast, there are numerous tabloids giving wrong advice that the only indication of a healthy marriage is how often the couples have sex. While there may be some truth to it, there is no definite formula with which one can determine the amount of sex that qualifies a marriage to be a healthy one. There are times when sexual life hits a slump, however, for a temporary period of time. There are other times it is becomes a permanent situation. As much as people place frequency of sex with so much importance in a marriage, it is not as a good a measure as quality is. Quality of sex is extremely important. A healthy marriage should be founded on the roots of acceptance, love and communication even in bed.
